Are you waiting for the Universe?

By Kirsty / January 27, 2014

I remember when I first heard about the power of the Universe and how if you asked for things they would find their way to you and about how sometimes the universe will guide you away from things that you shouldn’t be spending time on.  I was hooked.  I loved the idea of it all and I tried to embrace it.

Although I think I still believe that the mystical powers of The Universe are at work in some way, I have begun to question some things, or perhaps maybe my reaction to asking the universe for help.  I’m no expert on these matters, but feel quite strongly that there are some lessons we can all learn regardless of what your beliefs are. How many times have you have had a bad day at work, gone home and said to yourself “I want to be my own boss”?  Normally, for me, that thought has come when I am up early for a shift at work.  Nothing like getting out of a cold bed to work for someone else to drive home that idea that maybe I should just work for myself!

Define your dream – why it is the most important thing you can do

By Kirsty / January 20, 2014

I talk about defining your dream quite a lot on Untrapped Life.  There is a reason for this – it is the single most important thing you can do on your path to creating your dream.  Define your dream and you can move on to the more productive things like planning and researching.

Vague dreams get vague results

Too many people are vague when they list their ambitions for life.  They cite that they want to move to the countryside, or they want to be their own boss.  Possibly they want to travel, or to write, or to paint.  These goals and ambitions are great and it’s great that people are dreaming so hard, but they are unlikely to move forward with their dreams if that is all they can say about what they want to do.

If you carry on being vague it’s like waiting for a lottery win.  Yes there is a chance that your dream might still happen, but it’s putting the responsibility for it in someone else’s hands.  Wouldn’t you rather be sure that it would happen?

I want to travel! 5 ways you can make it happen

One of the most common dreams I hear about, and also one that I resonate with myself, is wanting to travel the world. To travel is to be able to take off and do a proper adventure, to live a carefree life going where the wind blows you, to relax on exotic beaches. Sound good?

Take a look at some of these ways to make it happen soon!

1. Stop being so vague!

Stop just saying ” I want to travel the world ” and turn it into something more specific. What would constitute a win for this goal? Going to Bognor for the weekend? No? How about a 12 month trip exploring central and south america? How about living for 6 months in a different culture?

If you don’t have a good picture about what is a win, you’ll always just be wanting to travel, never quite getting there. After all, there is so much of the world that there will always be more to discover.
